Made up of nine counties (Monroe, Wayne, Seneca, Ontario, Yates, Livingston, Wyoming, Genesee and Orleans) the Finger Lakes Region balances a high tech economy with proximity to water recreation and professional sports; world renowned vineyards and wineries with a thriving arts scene; and excellent academic institutions with engaged young leaders organizations. The region is ranked by Money Magazine as one of the 10 "best places to vacation" and is called a "serendipitous and surprising getaway" by USA Today.

The Finger Lakes Region’s largest city, Rochester, is ranked by Expansion Management Magazine as number one among metropolitan areas having the best Quality of Life in the Nation and in the 25th anniversary edition of Places Rated Almanac as the sixth best place to live in America. A mid-size city, Rochester is easily accessed by car or public transportation, with all city buses having bike racks to ensure it is easy to move around the city.

Eleven lakes and famous sites blend with charming neighborhoods and historic canal towns to create a mosaic of sports and entertainment. Attractions such as the region’s museums are designed to delight children with exhibits such as the Berenstain Bears, to engage sports fans with bygone era baseball games, and to captivate young and old alike with exhibits such as Ansel Adams’ photography. Explore Rochester at the High Falls, a 96-ft. urban waterfall, or the Grand Canyon of the East in Letchworth State Park. From Ontario County’s Prime Outlets to the Eastview Mall to the region’s many boutiques and specialty stores you can shop for the latest fashions and technology or find the best deals in the region’s diverse retail establishments. Whether you are attending one of the Finger Lake’s festivals or are cruising, biking or hiking on the original Erie Canal path great restaurants and shops are nearby to make relaxation with family and friends virtually effortless.

Excellent educational opportunities, affordable housing, an advanced health care system and a moderate climate also add to the regions numerous attributes making the Finger Lakes a highly desirable region in which to live and work.
